Liverpool are reportedly eyeing up a move for Brighton's young defender Ben White, after sending scouts to examine his progress.

Manager Jurgen Klopp is in the market for defenders to reinforcement his back line for the coming season, particularly following the departure of Dejan Lovren to Zenit St Petersburg.

And now the Reds are considering turning to Brighton's 22-year-old White, according to the Liverpool Echo.

It is claimed that Liverpool had White 'scouted extensively last season' and are said to have been impressed by what they saw from his matches in the Championship while on loan at Leeds United.

White plays at centre-back, though has showed versatility to play in the wider areas.

Liverpool are expected to have a quiet summer in the transfer window compared to rivals, after seeing their finances hampered by the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

Klopp is however set to be handed some funds, in order to enhance his squad as they bid to defend their recently acquired Premier League title.

The Reds have also been heavily linked with Norwich full-back Jamal Lewis, though appear to be at odds with the Norfolk club regarding valuation.

Liverpool have already been knocked back with a £10million bid for the youngster, with Norwich holding out for a fee closer to £20m.
