Liverpool are looking to fend off fierce interest from Germany in their manager Jurgen Klopp, according to reports.
Klopp has built Liverpool into arguably the most formidable club side in world football, winning last season's Champions League and putting the Reds on the brink of clinching their first-ever Premier League title.
Klopp has committed his long-term future to Liverpool until 2024, but according to the Mirror, Germany are lining him up as their ideal successor to Joachim Low.
Klopp is reportedly himself interested in taking charge of Germany in the future - seeing it as a natural development in his career.
Low's contract with the national team expires in 2022, the same year Klopp's previous deal at Liverpool had initially ran to.
Liverpool, however, will be desperate for the German to create a dynasty at Anfield after bringing the glory days back to the club.
The 52-year-old manager has been at Anfield for five years now and has built Liverpool into one of the most exciting projects in the world.
Fenway Sports Group reportedly considered it a minor coup that they managed to tie Klopp down until 2024.
However, they will now be desperate to see him extend his stay even further, and establish a legacy just like Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger did at Manchester United and Arsenal respectively.
