Liverpool fans have been left shocked after learning that Curtis Jones is a big fan of one of their Premier League rivals.

The 22-year-old star featured for the Reds in their 4-2 win over Newcastle on Monday which saw them go three points clear at the top of the table.

Two goals from Mohamed Salah, who is departing soon for AFCON, ensured victory for Jurgen Klopp's side.

Liverpool fans were especially happy with the mentality of their team after footage emerged showing them not even celebrating after their win.

But, it appears Curtis Jones might not be in supporters' good books any more after it has been revealed he's a Gunners fan.

According to The Athletic, Curtis Jones grew up on 'a housing estate closest to Liverpool’s city centre that runs beside Jamaica Street and out towards the urban sprawl of Toxteth.

'He had once told anyone willing to listen at the club’s academy that he was, in fact, an Arsenal fan.'

To the shock of Liverpool fans on X, one person wrote: 'Curtis Jones used to what How have I not seen this before. And why would a scouser be an Arsenal fan in the first place?'

Meanwhile, speculative rumours have been raised that Arsenal have made contact with Liverpool over a potential summer transfer, according to AFCAMDEN.

This led AFTV to tweeting to its followers: 'Would you take Curtis Jones next summer?'

Another Liverpool fan wrote: 'The rumours might be true.'

During Liverpool's win over Newcastle, Gary Neville was particularly wowed by a fantastic Trent Alexander-Arnold effort.

The England international struck a volley across the face of goal catching off guard Martin Dubravka.

The former Man United defender said on co-commentary on Sky Sports: 'That is obscene... obscene. You can't shoot from there. Wow, the best non-goal I've ever seen.'
