Liverpool have been forced into a last-minute switch to the Kirkby Academy for their latest UEFA Youth League clash - after their usual venue in St Helens was deemed unsuitable.
The young Reds were expected to take on Genk on Tuesday afternoon at the Totally Wicked Stadium, home of Super League champions St Helens.
With the rugby league season having finished last month, St Helens took the opportunity to reseed the pitch.
However, the process has taken longer than expected with Liverpool believing the surface isn't quite ready for use.
The Reds asked UEFA officials to make an assessment and, having visited St Helens on Monday evening, they have agreed the pitch isn't yet playable.
As a consequence, the Group E clash against Genk will now take place behind closed doors on the main pitch at the Academy in Kirkby, still with a 2pm kick-off.
Due to the late nature of the switch, it was impossible to make arrangements for accommodating fans at the match.
Supporters who have already bought a ticket for the Totally Wicked stadium are requested to seek a refund from the seller.
Liverpool last season used St Helens for their UEFA Youth League games, as well as several FA Youth Cup games on their way to winning the competition.
Barry Lewtas' side beat RB Salzburg at the Totally Wicked Stadium 4-2 earlier in this campaign's group stage, and are still expecting to play Napoli there later this month should the issues with the pitch have been resolved.
