As Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool squad battle to achieve iconic status by winning the Premier League, Anfield's stars of yesterday will return in March to play AC Milan in a legends' match.
In an encounter that will reprise the unforgettable 2005 Champions League final in Istanbul, Liverpool have named a seven members of the squad to feature on the night in Turkey to play the Italian side on March 23.
Jamie Carragher and Sami Hyypia are joined by Luis Garcia, Vladimir Smicer, Djimi Traore, Djibril Cisse and Jerzy Dudek, while there are many more heroes in line to play.
Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen - stars in Gerard Houllier's treble winning season -will reprise their role in attack while Alan Kennedy - a two time European Cup winner and five-time league winner with Liverpool in the 1970s and 80s - is also down to feature.
Many of the squad were pictured training at Melwood on Wednesday after the match was announced but it is unlikely Klopp will be bringing them into the fold for Liverpool's present title bid.
The current squad are back in action on Saturday when they welcome Bournemouth to Anfield, looking to record a vital victory and return to winning ways in the battle for league honours.
