Liverpool receive 2 boost as Klopp confirms 2 key players are back in training

Liverpool could have two key players back for tomorrow's trip to Nottingham Forest after they returned to training on Thursday.

The Reds have had to cope with a depleted squad in recent weeks and were without 13 first team players for Wednesday's FA Cup win against Southampton.

But their injury crisis appears to be easing after Jurgen Klopp confirmed that two of his stars could be in contention to play this weekend. He also revealed that he is hoping to reintegrate some more players today, with the Liverpool boss set to make late calls on his starting XI for the crucial Premier League clash.

'Darwin [Nunez] and Dom [Szoboszlai] trained yesterday with the team,' Klopp said. 'We'll see how they react.

'Wataru [Endo] and Robbo [Andy Robertson] didn't but there's a plan they join today.'

Mohamed Salah has also missed Liverpool's last three games and fans had hoped he could return this weekend after footage emerged earlier this week of him running in a Pepsi advert.

However, Klopp stated that this Saturday's game will come too soon for the Egyptian winger.

'I don't think Mo is too far off but he will not be on the pitch tomorrow and from there we have to go,' he said.

'Touch and go, Mo is a bit longer, maybe next week is possible, he is on the way back, definitely. Not for tomorrow.'

Klopp admitted that Alexis Mac Allister and Robertson have both been ill this week, but suggested that the pair should be available for selection tomorrow.

'Macca is fine. [A] little problem we didn't know about was Macca was ill for one-and-a-half days, Robbo same thing, hopefully it hasn't spread,' Klopp added.

Liverpool have been reliant on their academy players this week, with Klopp using several of them in their Carabao Cup final win against Chelsea on Sunday, while Jayden Danns and Lewis Koumas then starred in the Reds' win over Southampton.

Liverpool's entire staff gathered for a picture with the Carabao Cup this week, and Klopp hinted that he may need his young stars to step up once again on Saturday to get a positive result against Forest.

Klopp continued: 'Yesterday was a wonderful day with the staff picture. Usually we do that when we win a trophy but we did it yesterday with full Academy staff, I really wanted everyone to feel it.

'The role they played in the whole story, it was really cool. But now we play Forest and we have to find solutions.'
