Liverpool transfer round-up: Kingsley Coman bid rejected; Shaqiri close to exit

Liverpool are continuing to make moves in the summer transfer window as the new season edges closer.

Boss Jurgen Klopp is keen to reshuffle his squad following an injury-plagued Premier League campaign in which they finished 3rd, already bringing in Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig and seeing Georginio Wijnaldum leave for Paris Saint-Germain.

Sporting director Michael Edwards appears to be busy negotiating a number of high-profile deals as he bids to help Klopp on his quest to deliver a second English title triumph.

On Sunday, it was reported that a bid was submitted for another Frenchman who plies his trade in the Bundesliga, amid more speculation surrounding the entrance and exit door at Anfield.

Coman bid rejected

Liverpool have reportedly had a bid rejected for Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman.

Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, via beIN Sports, claim that the Reds have submitted an offer of £30million to bring the Frenchman in from Bavaria after it recently emerged that the 25-year-old would be keen on a move to the Premier League.

Coman, who scored the winning goal in Bayern's Champions League final victory in 2020, has won a league title in every season of his professional career, having previously played for Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus.

The German giants are said to be demanding at least £42m after the France international started more Bundesliga games than in any other term last time out (29), producing five goals and 12 assists.

Manchester United and Chelsea have been linked with the versatile wide man in the past, but it seems Liverpool are keen on capturing the trophy magnet, who is reportedly believed to feel unappreciated in Munich.

Reds in frame to make Mendes move

Liverpool are said to have joined the race to sign Sporting Lisbon star Nuno Mendes.

The left-back has become one of Portugal's hottest properties over the last 12 months and the Reds are reportedly looking at the dynamic left-back, according to native outlet Record, via  Sport Witness.

Manchester United and Man City are noted as other sides who are interested, while Spanish behemoths Barcelona and Real Madrid are mentioned alongside Italian sides AC Milan and Juventus.

Sporting may only ask for €50m (£43m) for the 19-year-old, previously claimed to be holding out for their star's €70m release clause.

Mendes was selected by Fernando Santos in Portugal's Euro 2020 squad, but he is yet to feature.

Konstantinos Tsimikas came in last summer but failed to push Andy Robertson for his place.

Shaqiri close to Serie A return

Xherdan Shaqiri could 'very soon' be a Lazio player, report TuttoSportWeb.

The Rome outfit, now managed by former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, are claimed to have held early talks which have indicated that a deal for the 29-year-old could well be completed in the coming weeks.

Shaqiri, once of Inter Milan, is viewed as a cheaper alternative to Borussia Dortmund's Julian Brandt, valued between £21.5m and £25.8m, who they'd like to loan first.

The Switzerland international is contracted on Merseyside for another two years and has bagged two goals and provided one assist for his nation at the ongoing European Championships.

They'll face Coman's France on Monday evening in a round-of-16 clash.
