Liverpool are said to not be in the race to sign Manuel Locatelli from Sassuolo.

The Italian midfielder has been linked with the number of clubs including Arsenal and Juventus and it does indeed seem like the Italian side will win the race eventually.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the Merseyside team would not be signing the midfielder.

‘To be clear. Liverpool are NOT in the race,’ he wrote on Twitter.

Saul moves closer to UK move

However one midfielder that could be moving to Liverpool is Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez.

According to a report in The Mirror, Saul’s agents are expected to fly to the UK on Monday to discuss terms for one of the interested parties to agree a deal for the Spaniard.

Liverpool and Manchester United are linked with the player and could both do with the additional quality in their midfield.

Liverpool lost Wijnaldum to PSG whilst Man United could yet lose Paul Pogba to the same side.

Neuhaus blow

Yet one player not expected to make the move to Liverpool is Borussia Monchengladbach man Florian Neuhaus.

The German international has had a stellar time with Marco Rose’s side, but with the now Dortmund coach gone much of the squad’s future is less assured.

Denis Zakaria has told the club he wishes to leave as one example.

However, Neuhaus remains committed to the side.

Sport1 via Inside Futbol says that positive talks with the side’s new manager have convinced him to remain for at least the upcoming season.

Liverpool target Florian Neuhaus is committed to staying at Borussia Monchengladbach following talks with head coach Adi Hutter.
