Liverpool prospect Stefan Bajcetic could be set for another loan move this season, having struggled at RB Salzburg.
Bajcetic joined Salzburg on a season-long loan over the summer, reuniting with former Liverpool assistant Pep Lijnders who had been appointed their new head coach after departing Anfield when Jurgen Klopp stood down as manager.
However, Lijnders was sacked last month with Salzburg languishing fifth in the Austrian Bundesliga, having finished second behind Sturm Graz last season. And Bajcetic has been limited to just eight starts across all competitions so far, meaning Liverpool are considering sending him elsewhere for more game time.
Marca reported earlier this month that La Liga side Las Palmas had enquired about signing the 20-year-old on loan and the same outlet are now reporting that Getafe have also entered the race.
The report states that Las Palmas are the frontrunners for Bajcetic and Diego Martinez's side are desperate for midfield reinforcements, with Jose Campana currently out injured and Dario Essugo suspended.
Fellow midfielder Javi Munoz has also been forced to deputise at right-back in recent weeks due to injuries to Viti Rozada and Marvin Park. The report adds that Las Palmas hope the offer of regular minutes will help convince Liverpool they are the right fit for Bajcetic.
The success of Essugo and Fabio Silva, who have both impressed so far this season after joining on loan from Sporting and Wolves respectively, may also work in their favour. However, Getafe are also in the market for a holding midfielder and the final decision will be up to Liverpool.
Bajcetic is highly-rated at Anfield, with Mohamed Salah even claiming he had been Liverpool's "best player" during the 2022-23 season after he was named their player of the month in January 2023.
Speaking after a win over Everton, Salah said: "He's a great player and person, he always tries to work hard. Since he started playing for us, he has been our best player maybe, so hopefully he keeps that confidence and keeps going."
When asked about Salah's comments last year, Bajcetic said: "When Salah tells you these things you try not to get carried away. When Klopp or players of that calibre tell you these things, it gives you more confidence to go into training the next day and give more. You try to keep your feet on the ground and continue learning from the best."
