Liverpool will take to the Club World Cup on Wednesday night for a semi-final clash with Monterrey, inside a stadium which appears to be unfinished.

Jurgen Klopp has turned his attention to the competition as Liverpool battle against severe fixture congestion and play two fixtures within a 24 hour period.

Qatar's Khalifa Stadium will host Liverpool and Monterrey for the semi-final showdown, though images prior to the match revealed concerning signs of extensive building work still going on.

After the quarter-final stage, workers were piled in to continue the preparations for the upcoming fixtures, which each match set to be played in the same ground.

Klopp had already expressed his surprise at this, with the pitch set to come under heavy usage during the tournament.

In recent images, scaffolding can be seen erected in the stands while sections of workers carry out their duties in between.

The pitch has been heavily treated, after accommodating the quarter-final stage so recently.

Heavy rain in Qatar has also made matters more difficult for staff at the stadium, as the rush intensifies to welcome the Champions League winners.

'I didn't think about Qatar until after the Watford game,' Klopp said this week.

'Now I think about it, and I heard that they change the stadium, then the next information I got, all the games will be played on the same pitch.

'And then I saw that it is raining! I have no problem with rain, especially when it's warm rain.

'It is not a concern, it is just something we will have a look at when we are there.'

Liverpool's semi-final, and the final & third-place play-off on Saturday, were originally meant to be played at the Education City Stadium until it was switched due to the new ground failing to host a test event.
