Liverpool youngster Bobby Duncan has spoken out for the first time since a public bust-up with his agent Saif Rubie and the club.

On Thursday afternoon Duncan took to social media site Twitter to write 'I just want to play football!' but the comment was almost immediately deleted.

Earlier, Duncan's agent had released a lengthy statement in which he accused Liverpool of 'holding him against his will and damaging his mental health' while 'bullying' the player by not permitting a transfer.

It was claimed Duncan has not left his house for four days because of the stress of not being allowed to leave Anfield on loan. Since the episode, Rubie has completely deleted his Twitter account.

Liverpool's released a brief statement on the initial episode, brandishing Rubie's words as 'unfounded allegations'.

'As the interests of the player in question are not best served by either inaccurate speculation, inflammatory statements or public discourse, we will be making no further comment,' the club added.
