Liverpool's most likely opponents from Pot 2 in UCL

The Champions League 2019/20 draw is set to take place on Thursday at 5pm.

Liverpool will find out who they will face in the group stages of the competition this season.

Now, one European Cup fan has simulated the group stage draw 50million times to work out the most probable match-ups between the biggest teams.

Pot 1's eight teams are; Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus, PSG and Zenit.

One spot remains in doubt in Pot 2 with Ajax needing to beat Apoel Nicosia in the play-off round to confirm their place alongside Tottenham, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Dortmund, Napoli, Shaktar Donetsk and Benfica.

Due to Pot 3 and Pot 4's make up being far from confirmed, Mark Cilia Vincenti of BayernForum.com, has used just the top two pots for his experiment with the assumption that Ajax reach the group stage after winning their first leg away from home which you can see below.

The most likely team for Liverpool to be drawn against in Pot 2 is Atletico Madrid while Shaktar are the second most likely.

While this table is based on the results of 50 million simulations the percentages make sense in that teams from the same country are unable to pay each other making certain draws more likely.

For example, Liverpool cannot face Tottenham who are in Pot 2 so there are seven other teams they could be drawn against however in Pot 1 are Barcelona and Zenit who cannot be drawn against Real Madrid and Atletico and Shaktar respectively - making it more slightly more likely for the Reds to face those three teams than any of the other remaining four.
