Liverpool's stance on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain transfer amid Anfield exit links

Liverpool have insisted they have no intention of selling Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer.

Wolves have been linked with the 27-year-old midfielder after the arrival of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich at Anfield.

But Oxlade-Chamberlain is very happy at Liverpool.

He has three years left on his current deal and the club will not let him go and will rebuff any approach as they see him as an important figure in the squad.

Oxlade-Chamberlain played in key games last season in their title success and also in the Champions League, which underlines Jurgen Klopp’s faith in the England star.

But Oxlade-Chamberlain is vital to the Reds because of his goals from midfield.

He was Liverpool’s top scoring midfielder with eight in all competitions last season, which makes him different to the other midfield options and why he remains an integral part of Klopp’s squad.

Oxlade-Chamberlain made 30 appearances in the Premier League last season and that shows he was an important cog in the title winning machine.

Liverpool had originally indicated they may have to sell a midfielder to get the Thiago deal done but Barcelona have been struggling to raise the cash to make a bid for Georginio Wijnaldum.

Now Liverpool have also bought Diogo Jota from Wolves to bolster their squad for the season.

Jota arrived from Wolves for £41m with Dutch defender Ki-Jana Hoever heading the other way and Molineux boss Nuno is still looking to strengthen his squad this summer after also losing Matt Doherty.

But Liverpool will not be selling Oxlade-Chamberlain and will make it clear to anyone that he is not for sale and is an important part of the set-up.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is on his way back to fitness after suffering a knee injury in pre-season.

When he returns, Oxlade-Chamberlain will be a part of the midfield trio with Klopp now having a depth of options.
