Crystal Palace have held positive talks with Lucien Favre over their vacant manager’s post.
The former Borussia Dortmund coach, who was sacked in December, is understood to be close to accepting Palace’s offer to succeed Roy Hodgson after deliberating over the weekend.
The 63-year old former Swiss international has also been proposed to Everton but is leaning towards a move to Selhurst Park.
Favre is renowned for developing young players which is of great appeal to Palace, who want their next manager to utilise talent from their academy to supplement their first-team squad.
Fenerbahce are among the other clubs believed to have been interested in bringing him in as manager, but the Swiss boss appears to favour a move to England.
Palace had offered the job to Nuno Espirito Santo only for him to then speak to Everton and Tottenham.
However, club officials pulled the plug on their attempts to make Santo their manager after he made a series of demands.
They had also considered Swansea’s Steve Cooper but he would cost substantial compensation. He is among names in the frame to replace Scott Parker at Fulham including Eddie Howe and Javier Pereira, who was assistant under Slavisa Jokanovic previously.
Parker is expected to take over at Bournemouth once his contract is terminated by mutual consent.
