Luiz goes head to head with Giroud in an NBA challenge

Chelsea team-mates David Luiz and Olivier Giroud have gone head-to-head in an NBA-style challenge where both players were given five shots from the free-throw line.

Washington Wizards played the New York Knicks at London's O2 Arena on Thursday evening while the two Blues stars were pitted each other in a basketball shootout... and both games went to the wire.

After both Luiz and Giroud missed their first four shots, it was the Frenchman who had to step up and make it rain inside the club's training ground gym.

And Giroud didn't disappoint as he sunk his fifth and final shot, heaping the pressure on his Brazilian team-mate.

The bare-footed Frenchman, who donned a Knicks jersey with Luiz, passionately celebrated thinking full well that he had won the encounter.

David Luiz was quick to step up to the mark and adjusted himself for his final shot.

The host then explained that if Luiz missed the shot, Giroud would win but that didn't faze the defender.

With Giroud unsportingly performing star jumps to put Luiz off, the Brazilian bounced the ball once before delivering the dagger.

Coolness personified, Luiz sunk his fifth shot and it was nothing but net in the most dramatic of circumstances.

While others screamed in astonishment, Luiz cockily kept his shooting hand aloft while Giroud could only stand and stare from the side.

'I love pressure! I love pressure!' Luiz shouted as he strutted around the court.

'I drink pressure,' Luiz continued as he was congratulated Giroud on the tie.

The Wizards overturned a 19-point deficit to beat the Knicks with a dramatic buzzer beat on Thursday night.

The side from the Big Apple should watch Luiz and Giroud's shootout and call them up.

On second thought... probably not.
