Lukaku confirms he will join Roma: I'm flying to Rome for signing
Romelu Lukaku confirms to Het Laaste Nieuws: “I will go to Roma tomorrow to sign the contract for Roma”.
The Blues have been attempting to move the Belgian on from the club throughout the summer but have faced stumbling blocks on many potential transfers.
Lukaku is not in new Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino's plans and the Belgian has been in talks with several clubs.
According to The Telegraph, Chelsea have demanded a loan fee of between £8million and £10m, and do not want to pay a percentage of his £325,000-per-week wages.
Mail Sport reported on Friday that the two clubs were still in discussions over a potential deal.
Lukaku has returned to homeland Belgium but while at a youth tournament in Boom, where he was watching son Romeo play for Anderlecht, he revealed some nerves about the deal ahead of flying to Rome tomorrow.
Lukaku said: 'I am nervous, tomorrow I will fly to Rome to sign.'
The Blues have been left with limited options as Lukaku has refused to join Juventus, Inter Milan or clubs in Saudi Arabia.
Chelsea had been insisting on a sale for the Belgian but are willing to accept another loan with a substantial fee as Roma are unlikely to be able to afford a buy option or his wages.
Lukaku has been successful in Serie A before, scoring 57 goals in 97 appearances for Inter and coming off the bench in the Champions League final loss against Manchester City.
Joining Roma would see the striker reunite with former manager Jose Mourinho, who coached the Belgian at both Chelsea and Manchester United.
