Chelsea are putting the finishing touches to Romelu Lukaku’s £97.5 million return to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues and Inter Milan are finalising paperwork ahead of the Belgium striker undergoing a medical.

He will rejoin Chelsea seven years after his departure for Everton in 2014.

The two clubs have now agreed a fee for Lukaku, 28, who told Italian champions Inter last week that he wanted to join Chelsea.

He is poised to sign a contract worth around £200,000 per week after tax.

Lukaku’s arrival at Chelsea will push Tammy Abraham further down the pecking order though he is not short of options.

Arsenal, West Ham, Southampton and Atalanta are among the sides keen on the England striker, who Chelsea value at £40m and would only prefer to let leave permanently.

Southampton are also one of the clubs, along with a number in Italy, interested in Chelsea teenager Armando Broja, who impressed on loan at Vitesse last season, as they weigh up their options following the £30m sale of Danny Ings to Aston Villa.

The Blues' first target this season was Erling Haaland, who they tried to prise away from Borussia Dortmund a year before the Norwegian's bargain £64m release clause kicks in.

An offer was rejected by the German club, with the offer reportedly a deal for as well as Tammy Abraham or Callum Hudson.

Haaland has since dismissed links to the Premier League, insisting he'll be staying to fight Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga this season.

The Blues kick their season off with a clash against London rivals Crystal Palace on Saturday, and they'll hope to have Romelu Lukaku available for his second debut.
