NONI MADUEKE is undergoing scans today to determine the severity of a knee issue picked up against Manchester City.
The Gunners winger was forced off at half-time in the 1-1 draw at the Emirates on Sunday, replaced by Bukayo Saka – who has only just returned from a hamstring strain.
It was initially believed to be a tactical switch, but Mikel Arteta said post-match he was struggling with “an issue” – now confirmed to be his right knee.
Boss Arteta said: "He had an issue very early in the match and he wasn't well enough to continue."
Fears rose as a clip of the England international reaching for his knee shortly before half-time emerged on social media.
Madueke joined Arsenal from Chelsea in a £52million summer transfer.
The Gunners new boy has started four of his side's opening five Premier League matches, but is yet to register a goal or an assist.
He did excel for the Three Lions during the most recent international break.
Thomas Tuchel started Madueke in qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia, with the Barnet-born ace scoring in the 5-0 demolition of the latter.
Arsenal boss Arteta has already had to contend with several injuries so far this season.
