Man United suffered a 0-3 home defeat to AFC Bournemouth. After the match, Maguire spoke to Viaplay about the team’s difficult start to the season, the urgent need to turn things around, and the boos directed at the players by fans after the final whistle.
What would you like me to do with this image?
Harry, the manager spoke at Friday's press conference about the need for the team to respond and the spirit of this club. How do you feel after today's 0-3 loss?
Maguire: It was very, very tough. I'm very disappointed and frustrated. Our performance wasn't good enough. It was a disappointing day.
In previous years, you’ve sometimes stepped up to give interviews like this when the club has faced difficulties. How does this period compare with other challenging times you’ve experienced at Man United?
Every difficult spell is tough. It's really hard to play for this club and not win. You want to win for the club and the fans—they deserve better. It's been a difficult start to the season. The only positive is that it's still early, and we have time to turn things around. But we need to do so quickly. We must respond strongly next week.
As you left the field, the Stretford End applauded the manager warmly, but once he entered the tunnel, the players, including captain Bruno Fernandes, were booed. What did you make of the fans' reaction to the team's performance?
Our fans are amazing, and we won't go against them. They're the best fans in the world, and they deserve more. We'll do our best to give them what they deserve.
