Maguire transfer: Mourinho and Man Utd sent warning by Claude Puel

Jose Mourinho has been told not to waste his time with another bid for Harry Maguire next month.

Manchester United made a move for Leicester ace Maguire last summer after the centre-back's superb World Cup with England.

But the stopper ended up staying and penning a new five-year deal worth £20million.

Foxes boss Claude Puel is now confident of keeping Maguire, 25, in the January window - even if United return.

Puel said: “We cannot have guarantees but I think Harry decided this summer to remain with us and play with us for another season.

“He is happy with us and saw the quality of the team and its ambition.

“Harry is a valuable player for the club and it is important to keep our best players and maintain our ambition this season.

“I think we will not have a problem this winter because we have a good squad with good guys.”

Maguire is set to return to the Leicester squad after injury for Saturday's clash with Spurs.

He has been out for the last five weeks with a knee problem but Puel confirmed he had trained this week.

Jonny Evans is also likely to be available for the clash but Jamie Vardy is out.
