Manchester United have announced Kobbie Mainoo has extended his contract until 2031.

The 21-year-old's previous deal was set to expire at the end of the 2026-27 season, but he has committed to his long-term future at Old Trafford.

Mainoo has made 98 appearances in all competitions for the club, most notably scoring the decisive goal in United's FA Cup final victory in 2023-24 under Erik ten Hag.

The midfielder fell out of favour with Ruben Amorim earlier this season, but has returned to form since Michael Carrick's tenure as interim boss.

Mainoo has featured in 12 of United's 13 Premier League games under Carrick, missing only their defeat to Leeds United through injury.

In that time, only Bruno Fernandes (1,169) and Casemiro (1,105) have played more minutes than Mainoo (1,065) among outfield players.

Fernandes is the only United player to record more assists (11) and successful passes (614) than Mainoo (two assists, 588 completed passes) under Carrick's leadership, while only Casemiro (18) has won more tackles than the England international's 15.

"Manchester United has always been my home; this special club means everything to my family," Mainoo told the club website.

"I have grown up seeing the impact that our club has on our city, and I relish the responsibility that comes with wearing this shirt.

"From The Cliff, to Littleton Road, to Carrington and ultimately Old Trafford, the journey so far has been incredible.

"I have the privilege of living my dream every single day, with the same relentless desire to succeed here as when I joined my first training session at the age of six.

"We can all feel the momentum building inside the club. I am determined to step up and play my role in helping Manchester United to regularly fight for major trophies in the years ahead."
