Emiliano Sala's death will likely lead to an awkward conflict between Nantes and Cardiff City over the payment of the player's transfer fee, but the French and Welsh clubs could be joined by Mallorcan team Platges de Calvia, who compete in the Balearic third division, in arguing over payments.
In 2006/07, at the age of 17, the Argentine played for Mallorcan side Soledat as part of the Proyecto Crecer - the Growth Project, in English - and this club was taken over by Platges de Calvia in 2016.
According to news site Ultima Hora, they want to consult with FIFA over the potential payment of training compensation as a percentage of the 17 million euros fee that Cardiff City agreed with Nantes.
"If the international rules regarding training compensation are applied then we have a right to receive a fee," club president Armando Perez Costas told Efe.
"As such, we want our legal team to get in touch with FIFA and to determine if there is such a possibility, although we have not demanded or asked for anything at this moment in time.
"I don't know what the clauses were in the contract signed between the English [sic] and French clubs, but it's true that there is a transfer that has been signed and a debt between one institution and another."
