Two fans have been arrested following a brawl between Manchester City and Lyon supporters on Wednesday night following their Champions League match at the Etihad Stadium.

A video on social media showed fans of both clubs fighting in the streets outside a shop late on Wednesday night as other match-day goers made their way home.

The Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that two people have been arrested for affray and they are working with the club as an investigation continues.

The video posted on social media shows two groups of fans throwing objects at each other.

One group, labelled as Lyon fans on social networking sites, reside primarily inside a local shop as they throw items out toward the Man City supporters.

Someone can be heard screaming 'get out' as other fans make their way home with the video taken from across the other side of the street.

The number of reported City fans outside the shop then seems to dramatically grow as they hurl objects at those still standing in the doorway.

One man running into the shop appeared to knock another person unconscious on his way in, prompting the commotion to calm down.

It is unclear what started the altercation following Man City's shock home defeat to Lyon in their first Champions League game of the season.

The French side took a surprise lead in the first-half after Maxwel Cornet latched on to a superb cross from Nabil Fekir, albeit after a costly mistake from Fabian Delph who failed to clear.

Fekir made it 2-0 just before half-time as Lyon capitalised on City's lacklustre performance.

Pep Guardiola was forced to watch from the stands as he served his suspension for being sent off in last season's quarter-final.

City came out in the second-half looking the brighter side but could only convert one effort from Bernardo Silva as Lyon held out for the win.
