Manchester City's chief executive Ferran Soriano is confident that Pep Guardiola will honour his contract at the club, which runs until 2021.

Sportsmail reported this month that Guardiola has a break clause that would allow him to leave the club at the end of the season. The new deal he signed last year that extended his original contract until 2021 included an agreement that he could depart at the end of 2019-20 if certain conditions were met.

The former Barcelona boss won back-to-back Premier League titles last season and amassed a record Premier League points total in 2017-18 as City hit 100.

The Spaniard, who has also lifted the Carabao Cup and FA Cup during his time at the Etihad, is rumoured to be keen on living in Barcelona again, but Soriano has laid down the law and stressed he will be going nowhere until he sees out his deal.

'Pep has said so many times that he has a contract that covers this year, plus next year too,' he said at the Dubai Sports Conference. 'There is no discussion about this.

'Pep will stay and he'll leave at the right time one day – and the club is strong enough to survive any change.

'But as Pep said many times, he's not leaving.'
