Gianfranco Zola has commended Manchester City's adaptability following the arrival of summer signing Erling Haaland.
The Norweigan has made quite the impact following his switch from Borussia Dortmund back in June and added a further two goals to his impressive tally against Brighton at the Etihad yesterday afternoon. Despite the Seagulls' best attempts, the 22-year-old continues to seemingly bulldoze anyone who gets in his way, adding the perfect puzzle piece to City's free-flowing football.
With 22 goals already to his name after just 15 appearances, many will hope the forward can fire Pep Guardiola's side to further success this season. Replacing Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero seemed a tough feat but the Blues have found their man and everything seems to be clicking into place as of late.
Speaking about his freakish goalscoring exploits, former Chelsea man Gianfranco Zola insisted that heaving the calibre of player around Haaland is helping him to become that level better than anyone else. He said via Optus Sport: “He plays in a team where the context helps him a lot because the way Manchester City play offensively is unbelievable.
''They produce so many chances and take the ball to dangerous areas so consistently and if you’re a good striker like he is then you can score many goals.
''To be honest, I’m surprised because previously Manchester City didn’t involve the striker much, they used to play around him and play a lot of balls to wide areas and cut it back for midfielders coming into the box. It seems that he has adjusted to the system and the team has adjusted to him and it’s an unbelievable result so far.”
