Real Betis want to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko on loan but Manchester City are pushing for a permanent deal worth upwards of £16million.

The La Liga club are interested in landing the midfielder, who impressed as a deputy left back last season, and are hoping to secure a temporary switch.

Zinchenko has turned down a number of moves this summer and claimed he wants to stay with the Premier League champions.

City are understood to be open to negotiating a loan deal that includes an obligation to buy next year. They want to recoup the sort of fees involved with Wolves' failed bid.

The 21-year-old is a popular figure at City, although his opportunities will be limited in Pep Guardiola's side given the return of Benjamin Mendy.

There is an acceptance by the club's management that he could kickstart his career elsewhere.
