Man City vs Southampton: TV channel, stream & preview

  /  autty

The home side look to make it three wins in a week but a result for the visitors would move them further away from the bottom three

Manchester City aim to reclaim their spot at the top of the Premier League with a victory over Southampton.

The English champions had been edging out Liverpool on goal difference but, after the Reds drew 1-1 with Arsenal on Saturday, they now have a chance to move two points clear.

The Saints meanwhile have an opportunity to move further away from the relegation spots if they can take anything away from the Etihad Stadium.

Mark Hughes' side come into the clash on the back of goalless draws against Bournemouth and Newcastle respectively, and will have a tough task to get on the score sheet today as City have only conceded three times in the league so far.

TV Channel, Live Stream & How To Watch

In the United States (US), the game can be watched live and on-demand with fuboTV (7-day free trial) .

New users can sign up for a free seven-day trial of the live sports streaming service, which can be accessed via iOS, Android, Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV, Roku and Apple TV as well as on a web browser.

In the UK, the game will not be aired on TV.

It was scheduled to be played on Saturday November 3, but City's game against Tottenham last week was moved to Monday due to an NFL game being played at Wembley Stadium the day before. This resulted in their Carabao Cup game against Fulham being shifted to Thursday and the Southampton clash to Sunday.

Kevin De Bruyne misses out after suffering knee ligament damage for a second time this term towards the end of Thursday's encounter with Fulham. Ilkay Gundogan is still recovering from a hamstring problem while Nicolas Otamendi and Claudio Bravo remain sidelined.

Southampton XI: McCarthy; Stephens, Yoshida, Hoedt; Soares, Hojbjerg, Romeu, Bertrand; Tadic, Austin, Redmond.

Betting & Match Odds

City are clear favourites according to bet 365 who rate the hosts' chances at 11/100. A draw comes at a price of 10/1 while it's 28/1 for Southampton to pull off an upset.

Match Preview

This is City's third game in seven days and they will be pleased with the return from the week so far, having won two in two.

Although losing De Bruyne to another long-term injury on Thursday was a considerable blow, there is no doubt that City have the depth in midfield to see off Southampton. The likes of David Silva, Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden are all capable of creating chances for the forwards.

Remarkably, City have the best defensive and attacking record in the league having conceded three and scored 27 in 10 matches, which makes them deserved favourites to retain their title. Going two points clear of Liverpool would certainly give them a confidence boost.

It is not surprising that few experts are backing Southampton to stop the Blues' charge as Hughes' team is yet to meet their potential this term. Their only victory of the league campaign to date came with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on September 1, and the fact that they conceded six goals over two games against Liverpool and Chelsea could indicate that this will be another tricky encounter.

The South Coast outfit will be hopeful their back line can use the momentum from consecutive clean sheets in their last two outings and provide some resistance against in-form City.
