Manchester United have agreed a deal for Cardiff's Gabriele Biancheri, with the Wales U-17 international set to join the club when he turns 17 in September.

Biancheri has completed his medical at Old Trafford and will sign a scholar contract with the Red Devils.

As the striker is not arriving until September, the deal does not need to be completed before the transfer window closes on Tuesday.

The Cardiff star is believed to have been chased by a number of top clubs before being snapped up by United.

It comes as Erik ten Hag continues to strengthen up front as he looks to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo, who departed in controversial circumstances last year.

United have already brought in Wout Weghorst  as a temporary option on a six-month loan deal from Burnley, and the 30-year-old has looked a shrewd addition so far.

He scored his first goal for the club in United's 3-0 Carabao Cup victory over Nottingham Forest on Wednesday, as they continue to challenge in four competitions.

Another forward in fine form for ten Hag's side is Marcus Rashford's who scored for the ninth game in a row against Forest but failed to make it 10 in the FA Cup on Saturday.

The manager spoke highly of the forward after the EFL Cup win, as he told reporters: 'Every player has to make and get his own confidence. He fought for this. He invested in this.

'Of course, with my coaching staff, we bring in structures that give him routines that he needs to get into the right position.

'It's obvious that Marcus at this moment is in really good shape, really good form.'
