Man United stars return to training as focus shifts to clash with Everton

Manchester United's big names were back into work on Thursday morning ahead of the resumption of their domestic campaign on Sunday.

The likes of first-team stars David de Gea, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and captain Michael Carrick were all pictured arriving at Carrington, with boss Jose Mourinho also spotted being chauffeured in.

With three days to prepare for the visit of Everton on Sunday, Mourinho had his players in for a workout.

Following his injury picked up in the win over Basel, Paul Pogba was not amongst those training. He underwent a scan on his hamstring injury behind closed doors at United's training ground on Wednesday.

United invested millions in state-of-the-art medical equipment at their Carrington base to assess stars rather than utilising nearby hospitals.

It is Pogba's second hamstring problem in six months and Mourinho fears he could miss a cluster of matches before October's international break.

United face Everton, Southampton and Crystal Palace in the Premier League, plus a trip to CSKA Moscow in Europe.

Mourinho told MUTV: 'I just know from experience it's a muscular injury. In my experience, muscular injury stops you from playing for a few weeks, I think.

'It looks for me too [like a hamstring injury] but I haven't spoken yet to the medical department.

'Squads are for this, squads are for injuries, squads are for suspensions. We don't cry with injuries. So if no Paul for Sunday, we have [Ander] Herrera, we have Carrick, we have [Marouane] Fellaini and we have [Nemanja] Matic.'
