Man United suffer ANOTHER transfer setback as Ebiowei 'opts for Crystal Palace'

Malcolm Ebiowei has agreed to sign for Crystal Palace - handing Manchester United another transfer setback, according to reports.

The Derby County star, 18, broke into Wayne Rooney's Championship side last season, playing 15 matches in all competitions and scoring once, and impressed despite their relegation, largely brought about due to the Rams' 21-point deduction.

And football journalist Fabrizio Romano has stated promising winger Ebiowei has completed a medical with Palace and is set to sign a five-year contract keeping him in south London until 2027.

Romano tweeted: 'English talent Malcolm Ebiowei won't join Manchester United. He's set to sign his contract with Crystal Palace after medicals completed this week, it's a done deal. #CPFC.

'Ebiowei will leave Derby County to join Palace - contract will be valid until June 2027.

'To be clear: Ebiowei's medical has been already completed earlier this week, all done. Five year deal to be signed very soon - Crystal Palace statement to follow right after.'

Former Arsenal academy prospect Ebiowei, who has represented both Holland and England at youth level, moved to Pride Park from Rangers' academy on a free transfer in September.

The news comes as a blow new manager Erik ten Hag and United, who reportedly held talks with Ebiowei's representatives and have tracked him for months.

The Red Devils also missed out on Ajax defender Jurrien Timber after former manager Louis van Gaal warned him off a move and saw Liverpool sign Benfica's Darwin Nunez despite their interest in him.
