Match Report

The second period began at a more measured pace, with Everton defending slightly deeper to prevent United's incessant attack via the long ball, with a tweak of formation allowing the Toffees more control in the middle.

Anthony Martial continued his own strong record against Everton, after Marcus Rashford squared the ball inside the box following a slip from Seamus Coleman to give the Frenchman his eighth in 16 games against the Toffees to make it 2-0 on 71 minutes.

But United perhaps received a bitter blow late in the second half, after Rashford pulled up injured and clutching his groin, before limping down the tunnel to receive further treatment.
