Man Utd could land £35m for Andre Onana as newly-promoted side eye shock transfer

Manchester United's finances are in a mess and the club will need to sell big-earning players this summer after failing to qualify for the Champions League following their Europa League Final nightmare

Manchester United keeper Andre Onana is wanted by newly promoted Saudi Pro League side Neom SC in a £35million deal. Uncertainty hangs over the future of the Cameroonian, two years since his £47m arrival from Inter Milan.

Onana, signed by former United boss Erik ten Hag, who managed him at Ajax, would earn a whopping £15m-a-year net of tax if he joined the Saudi First Division champions.

Ambitious Neom have the backing of Newcastle ’s owners, the Saudi Public Investment Fund, and have also been linked with a move for Manchester City ’s departing Kevin De Bruyne. They completed successive promotions with the help of ex-West Ham and Brentford winger Said Benrahma, on loan from Lyon.

Onana, 29, still has three years remaining on his contract but has been the target of criticism for a series of howlers in his time with United.

And he came under fire again on Wednesday after failing to keep out Brennan Johnson’s deflected winner for Tottenham in the Europa League final in Bilbao.

The Red Devils are in desperate need of funds after failing to win the Europa League, and with it a return to the Champions League.

Every member of United’s squad is effectively up for sale, including skipper Bruno Fernandes, with a major rebuild under Ruben Amorim anticipated this summer as owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks to bring costs way down.

Alejandro Garnacho is expected to leave after his Europa League final snub and subsequent fallout on social media. United hope to receive around £60-70m for the Argentine forward.

Marcus Rashford is also expected to leave permanently after his loan spell at Aston Villa. United have put a £40m price tag on the forward.

And they may well take big hits on a number of others, including Rasmus Hojlund, Jadon Sancho and Antony, who may find himself a market in Spain after impressing on loan at Real Betis.
