Manchester United fans are furious with the price they are being quoted for Harry Maguire following Matthijs de Ligt's transfer to Juventus.
The Red Devils had been in pursuit of both defenders this summer but De Ligt opted to join the Old Lady, who can give him Champions League football this season.
Juventus parted with £67.5million to complete the transfer for the Holland international, a huge fee for a 19-year-old centre-back.
However, the fee is a drop in the ocean when compared to the £80million Leicester City are demanding for United's alternative target, Maguire.
The Red Devils have already attempted to sign Maguire for £70million this summer but the bid was promptly rejected by the Foxes.
Maguire is keen on the deal taking place and has told Leicester he wants to leave.
It is understood the Foxes will let him go should United match their valuation, but the Red Devils are stalling on putting up the extra cash.
Maguire is a world-class operator but United fans are of the impression that De Ligt is perhaps better than the Englishman.
And many supporters are understandably unhappy that they're expected to pay £12.5million more for his services.
"How the hell is Maguire worth more than De Ligt," wrote one baffled fan, while another added: "As much as I like Harry Maguire as a player, he simply ain't worth more than Matthijs de Ligt."
A third said: "The fact that we were even thinking about Maguire for upwards of £80m when De Ligt was available for £68m is actually disgusting."
And a fourth concluded: "£70million rejected. Yet De Ligt signs for £68million. Ridiculous. Find another target as Maguire isn't that good."
