Man Utd offer Dean Henderson £100,000-per-week new deal (Sun)

Manchester United have reportedly offered Dean Henderson a huge new contract to stave off interest from Premier League rivals for the young goalkeeper.

Henderson has long vented his frustration at a lack of opportunities to break into the United first team, with first choice keeper David de Gea seemingly unmovable between the sticks.

The Englishman's strong displays for loan club Sheffield United, coupled with De Gea's poor showings for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, has strengthened calls for the youngster to get his shot at Old Trafford.

Henderson had told team-mates at Bramall Lane he was willing to return to the Blades next season if he is not guaranteed a first team place, but United are upping the ante to keep their man amid interest from Chelsea.

The Sun reports that Old Trafford chiefs are offering the 23-year-old an improved deal of £100,000-per-week to secure the goalkeeper's long term future at the club.

Should Henderson sign the updated terms, it would be his fourth professional contract with the club, despite never starting a game for United.

It would also present a huge blow to Chelsea's pursuit of the youngster, with Frank Lampard keen to recruit a new goalkeeper after £71million signing Kepa Arrizabalaga has fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are prepared to offer United around £50million to prise one of the country's top young keepers away from them, and now the ball is well and truly in Henderson's court as he looks to determine his future.

Henderson has two years remaining on his current deal with United, with the club's hierarchy willing to let their keeper decide on his future next season.
