Man Utd sent hands-off transfer message by Cesc Fabregas over £40m-rated winger

Manchester United have recently been linked with a swoop for Como forward Assane Diao but Cesc Fabregas has little interest in entertaining a sale

Cesc Fabregas has issued a hands-off warning to Manchester United over in-form 19-year-old Como winger Assane Diao. The Senegal international, who joined the Italian side for £10.5million from Real Betis in January, has rattled in six goals in 13 Serie A appearances since completing the switch. Now United have been linked with a swoop for the teenage prodigy but Fabregas insists Como want to keep hold of their best players - even if Ruben Amorim's side table big cash this summer. He said: “We are trying to go for young, talented players who were not playing: they do well here and obviously their value increases. There is no mentality of speculating and selling, they come here to grow and improve the team. Then obviously, Manchester can come and ask for Diao by offering €40million, but it is not a given that he will leave."

Diao was once wanted by Brentford during his time in Spain but now he is thriving in Italy as Como continue to champion the signings of young talent. It's important to note reports linking United with the jet-heeled winger appeared to be nothing more than just speculation at this moment in time. Meanwhile, Fabregas has also reaffirmed his commitment to his current employers after emerging as a managerial target for RB Leipzig following the recent sacking of Marco Rose. The ex-Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder is believed to be viewed as an interesting outsider for the vacancy. However, Fabregas is seemingly going nowhere, insisting: "I'm focused on the objective, you know that I'm very happy here at Como." That could be bad news for Crystal Palace and Sheffield Wednesday as their bosses, Oliver Glasner and Danny Rohl, are also on Leipzig's radar. Fabregas' current deal with Como runs until the summer of 2028.

Glasner remains in talks with Palace over a possible contract extension as the Austrian approaches the final year of his deal at Selhurst Park. He recently shot down speculation linking him with Leipzig, claiming it was not fair on his elderly mother. He said of his future: “I’m very happy, but I’m not happy with all the stories. I don’t read all these stories, but my mum messaged me and she said: ‘I don’t know. I have to read so much. I don’t know where to start and where to end, I can’t sleep anymore’. I said: ‘Come on, you are in your 70s, and it’s not worth reading all this stuff.’ So nothing to tell from my side. The only guy I was talking to in the last week was [Palace chairman] Steve Parish. No one else.”
