Manchester United have had their food hygiene rating slashed from five to one after guests were served raw chicken at a corporate event.

The club now requires 'major improvement' according to the Food Standards Agency. United are set to appeal the downgrade.
A spokesperson for Trafford Council said: 'We can confirm that the hygiene rating for Old Trafford (Manchester United) has been downgraded from five to one.
'This follows a food hygiene investigation following an incident where undercooked food was served at an event on November 21.'
It was alleged earlier this month that United 'served raw chicken' at an event at Old Trafford that 'allegedly made several people ill'.

According to The Athletic, the club were 'conducting an internal investigation' after several people attending the event alleged they had become sick from the uncooked chicken.
It was added that the event had taken place in the club's stadium 'in the past few months' but added 'the precise nature of the event is not yet known'.
It can now be revealed that direct action has been taken against United, pending further appeal.
