The January transfer window has only been open for a matter of days but Manchester United have already been busy.
After failing to offload several fringe players in the summer, Erik ten Hag has already managed to get rid of Donny van den Beek and it seems that United outcast Jadon Sancho will follow suit in the coming days as a return to Borussia Dortmund edges closer.
Although further outgoings are possible, Ten Hag is expected to turn his attention to incomings. The Dutchman will be working with limited funds this month but signings could still be made before the window shuts. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest transfer news from Old Trafford...
Release clause plan
Manchester United are plotting an ambitious summer swoop for Michael Olise due to a release clause in the Crystal Palace winger's contract which is due to come into effect at the end of the season.
The Eagles star, 22, has become one of the club's most influential players since joining in the summer of 2021 and was the subject of interest from Chelsea earlier this year before penning a new contract.
However, The Standard reports that Olise's new deal has a release clause which comes into effect in the summer and he has been identified as a future target by Manchester United.
Ten Hag blocks deal
Erik ten Hag will not allow Hannibal Mejbri to leave the club on loan amid injury concerns in midfield. Hannibal, 20, is attracting plenty of loan interest per The Mail but Ten Hag is wary of leaving himself short with both Casemiro and Mason Mount currently sidelined.
The duo are expected back later this month, though, which means Hannibal could be given the green light to complete a move later in the window.
Werner emerges as loan target
Former Chelsea striker Timo Werner has emerged as a potential transfer target for Manchester United, Mirror Football understands. Werner, 27, left the Blues to rejoin RB Leipzig last summer but could be open to returning to England with United who are looking to sign another striker in January.
RB Leipzig are open to sanctioning a loan deal to help Werner get up to speed with the striker being plagued by niggles this term. United have also been offered Bayern Munich forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
