Man Utd welcome back De Gea, Van de Beek and Pogba for trip to AC Milan

Manchester United have welcomed back David de Gea, Donny van de Beek and Paul Pogba for the Europa League last-16 away leg against AC Milan, but Edinson Cavani will miss out after suffering a 'reaction' to their final training session.

With the tie poised at 1-1 ahead of the crunch game at San Siro this Thursday, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be pleased to see Pogba return following a thigh complaint against Everton last month.

De Gea is back from paternity leave in Spain but Eric Bailly, Anthony Martial and Shola Shoretire will sit out the trip along with Cavani, with the defender's fitness having been assessed late on.

'We are happy to have Donny back, Paul and David,' Solskjaer told MUTV.

'Big players. Unfortunately, it looks like Edinson has got a bit of a reaction to training today and didn’t feel ready to travel.

'Eric is being assessed. I might be wrong there [in saying he was out]. He might have turned around and said he’s ready but he didn’t train this morning.'

The absence of Cavani will be a blow to United given the Uruguayan striker has scored seven goals this season and the Red Devils lack firepower, with just four goals in their last six games.

He has missed three matches since being taken off earlier this month with a muscle injury against Crystal Palace and returned to training this week alongside Pogba and Van de Beek, who has not played since February 14.

Pogba should inject some much-needed creativity in midfield while Van de Beek will hope to contribute after reports said he could leave United due to a lack of game time.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is fit to face his former club according to Milan boss Stefano Pioli, having missed the game at Old Trafford with a thigh injury.

But the Rossoneri are waiting on the fitness of Davide Calabria, Rafael Leao, Alessio Romagnoli and Ante Rebic.
