For the first time in the history of Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers, two of Europe's most powerful soccer teams will face off on its turf.
Manchester City, the club that Spanish coach Pep Guardiola has turned into one of the toughest in the English Premier League, will play a warm-up match against Bayern Munich at one of the NFL's most emblematic venues.
Bayern Munich is the German team with the most Bundesliga titles and recently won its tenth consecutive league championship.
New experience
Executives of the Green Bay Packers, who were joined by representatives of City and Bayern, announced that next Saturday, July 23, they expect to congregate fans from the United States who follow in detail everything that happens in European soccer.
In this regard, Mark Murphy, president and CEO of the Packers, shared his pleasure in welcoming two of the most important clubs of the Old Continent.
"Our stadium is famous for its history and tradition, and we are honored to welcome two equally historic clubs from across the pond. We look forward to seeing their devoted fans from around the world attend the first soccer match at Lambeau Field," he said.
Houston will also host the Citizens
It should be noted that this will be the second match between Bayer and City on U.S. soil, as they previously met in 2018, when the Citizens defeated the Teutons 3-2 at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium in a match corresponding to the International Champions Cup.
The Packers organization partnered with Cardenás Marketing Network (CMN) to bring the friendly match to Green Bay.
A few days ago, it was also confirmed that City will previously play a July 20 match against Club America at NRG Stadium in Houston.
