The English Premier League season is now just under one week away. Brentford will take on Arsenal in the season opener on Friday, August 13th.

Ahead of the league campaign getting underway, though, we will of course first see the winners of the FA Cup and Premier League from 2020/21 play out this year’s Community Shield fixture.

This clash in question will see Leicester City, FA Cup holders, and Manchester City, PL champions, face off at Wembley on Saturday, August 7th at 5:15 PM UK time.

De Bruyne & Foden out of Community Shield

Ahead of the game, Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Man City will be without two of their top midfielders.

Phil Foden missed the Euro 2020 final with England with an injury and it is, according to Pep, keeping him out for a while longer.

Kevin De Bruyne is also sidelined but the City boss expects him to come back quicker than Foden:

“Phil will be still out for a while, he had a tough injury for [England]. We have to be careful, it could be longer [if he comes back too soon]. And Kevin is still out as well. I think he’ll come back a little quicker.”
