Lille centre-back Leny Yoro (18) is expected to be officially unveiled as a Manchester United player shortly after the Premier League club found an agreement worth €70m with the Ligue 1 side, L’Equipe can reveal. The outlet has reported how Lille president Olivier Létang obtained more than he hoped from the sale of the club’s prized asset. It was reportedly expected that Real Madrid, Liverpool, PSG and Manchester United would engage in a bidding war to acquire the services of Leny Yoro.
However, Real Madrid – despite being Leny Yoro’s favored destination – only submitted a bid near the €20m mark whilst Ligue 1 champions PSG didn’t send a formal bid to Lille at all. The outlet added that some PSG executives thought Leny Yoro would leave as a free agent to Real Madrid in 2025. But Lille president Olivier Létang stood firm and set up a €60m price tag for Leny Yoro.
In the end, Manchester United offered €62m as well as €8m in performance-related add-ons for the signing of the highly-rated Lille centre-back. The outlet adds that, out of the €8m worth of bonuses, half of that sum relates to “easily achievable” objectives.
