Manchester United are 'confident' their latest offer for Ajax star Lisandro Martinez will be accepted, report 90Min.

The report states United are even planning a medical for the Argentina international defender.

United are also continuing to hold talks over signing teammate Antony, 90Min report.

The Daily Record reported Ajax are demanding £106 million combined for both players.

United are 'confident' over Lisandro Martinez

Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf report United's latest offer for Martinez is £43 million (50m Euros).

United are said to be confident they have met Ajax's asking price and that the offer will be accepted.

The Red Devils ideally wanted this deal done in time for the club's pre-season tour, but it does not appear likely he would be signed in time to go on the initial flight out, even if a medical was rushed through.

United could have signed Martinez earlier, but spent the early part of the transfer window pursuing Ajax teammate Jurrien Timber.

The 20-year-old was convinced to stay at Ajax instead, amid warnings from international boss Louis van Gaal that the move could be risky for his World Cup place.

There are no such fears for Martinez, who is a regular with Argentina, and at 24, is confident in his own ability to succeed.

AS report Martinez even interrupted his holiday last week to travel to Ajax and inform them of his desire to quit the club.
