Manchester United may have endured a quiet January transfer window that saw them fail to bring in any new signings.
However, some fans appear to be in a joyful mood despite the lack of deadline day action following the departure of Ed Woodward as executive vice chairman.
After the failed European Super League debacle last spring, Woodward announced he would be stepping down from his role in the future.
That date proved to be the end of January and following nine years at the club he has left his role that he had taken in Manchester United's transitional summer of 2013.
He had effectively replaced David Gill in running the football operations at the club, who departed along with legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Woodward has long been a scapegoat for United supporters having overseen the tenures and appointments of Red Devils managers David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who have all failed to lead realistic title charges during their spells at the club.
Many were backed by huge transfers including the then world record £89million capture of Paul Pogba from Juventus in 2016, as well as the sensational return of global star Cristiano Ronaldo last summer.
Now, United supporters have taken to social media to show their relief that their side can head into a new direction.
On Twitter, one fan called Woodward a specialist in failure, before posting an image of him with a mocked up plane carrying the banner with the same sentiment.
Another fan saw Woodward's departure as a major plus from a quiet transfer window, stating with relief: 'The biggest positive from this window? Ed Woodward is no longer employed by Man United. HALLE-FRIGGIN-LUJAH.'
There was even celebration among some supporters, with one stating: 'Ed Woodward is no more part of Manchester United. A win for the fans' and another posting: 'Ed Woodward no longer has anything to do with Manchester United. Now that’s a reason to celebrate.'
It doesn't look like fans will be looking forward to him resuming any future duties either, with one on Reddit writing: 'Tears in my eyes. Hopefully he never ever gets involved with the club again. Time to get a new flair.'
Others meanwhile kept it simple, marking his departure by just saying: 'Good riddance.'
