Manchester United are reportedly monitoring the situation of AC Milan star attacker Rafael Leao, with the Portuguese forward impressing in Italy this term.
As per the Mirror, Reds manager Erik ten Hag is a big admirer of the 23-year-old and sent scouts to watch him against Chelsea in the Serie A outfit's two recent Champions League ties against the Blues. The report adds that Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester City are also interested in Leao, with Milan valuing him at around £60million.
The player has less than 18 months left on his contract and is said to be refusing to sign a new deal, despite being offered a five-year contract worth in excess of £100,000-a-week.
Leao - who arrived at the San Siro from Lille in 2019 - has registered 59 goal contributions in 127 appearances for Milan, including 11 in 12 matches so far this term.
Elsewhere, Liverpool are interested in signing United transfer target Frenkie de Jong in the January transfer window, according to reports in Spain.
The Barcelona midfielder was Ten Hag's top target for Old Trafford in the summer, but a move failed to materialise - despite the two clubs agreeing a fee for the 25-year-old.
As per Sport, Liverpool are now are eyeing a move for the former Ajax man as they look to add reinforcements. De Jong has struggled for game time this season and has been left on the bench for the past four games, with manager Xavi opting for a midfield trio of Sergio Busquets, Gavi and Pedri.
The Dutchman is under contract at Camp Nou until June 2026, but has fallen down the pecking order and could decide that he wants a new challenge.
