Manchester United 'revive interest in Jude Bellingham' two years on from being rejected

Manchester United have reportedly revived their interest in Borussia Dortmund's teenage sensation Jude Bellingham.

Bellingham, 19, snubbed United in favour of a move to Germany two years ago and has seen his performances go from strength to strength.

At the time of Bellingham deciding his move in 2020, United reportedly tried everything to try and land the Birmingham-born midfielder. That included a tour of the club's Carrington training ground with Sir Alex Ferguson.

However, believing his future was best in the hands of the German side who in the past few years have opted for a policy of buying exciting talent to develop and then sell on, Bellingham moved to the Bundesliga.

Despite snubbing them two years ago, according to The Star, United are set to be one of many clubs renewing their interest in the midfielder over the coming months.

It is not expected Bellingham will be cheap, with only offers around the £100m mark thought to interest Borussia Dortmund. His deal with the German club expires in 2025.

Owing largely to his strong performances this season, notably perhaps in Europe, where he has captained Borussia Dortmund this season, interest in Bellingham appears to have skyrocketed and his future at the German club appears increasingly uncertain.

Having been reportedly stunned at being rejected by Bellingham, United - as with most major clubs across Europe - have kept their eyes on the former Birmingham City midfielder.

Bellingham's astonishing rise to stardom that has seen him become one of Europe's foremost midfielders while still a teenager means they are unlikely to be alone in chasing him.

There have long been reports that Bellingham has been identified by Jurgen Klopp and the Fenway Sports Group (FSG) as the man to revamp their increasingly ageing midfield.

Klopp and Liverpool were said to be interested in landing the midfielder this summer, after a move for Aurelien Tchouameni collapsed in the face of Real Madrid winning out for the French deep-lying midfield player.

Real Madrid themselves are also said to be extremely interested in Bellingham.

Having sold Casemiro this summer to United, Real Madrid have sought to revitalise their midfield in the last few years with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric not getting any younger.

The Spanish giants hope Bellingham would join Eduardo Camavinga and Tchouameni in smoothing the transition from the incredibly successful midfield of the last decade or so.

Bellingham is expected to form a key part of England's World Cup squad for the tournament which begins in Qatar on November 20.
