Manchester United's under-performing stars appear to be taking contrasting approaches to pre-season ahead of the start of a new era under Erik ten Hag.

United's players who did not feature in the recent round of international matches are due back at Carrington on June 27.

But Ten Hag will be unable to have his full squad at his disposal until early next month prior to their first pre-season fixture, the clash with Liverpool in Bangkok on July 12.

Some have posted pictures of them working on their individual fitness regimes as they gear up for the new campaign.

Marcus Rashford has jetted off to the United States for a 10-day training camp, while Anthony Martial - whose future at Old Trafford remains uncertain - has been hitting the gym.

Bruno Fernandes, Jadon Sancho and Amad Diallo, United's £37million signing who spent the last campaign on loan at Rangers, have also been seen working on their fitness.

Raphael Varane, who joined the club last summer, is among the United players to have posted pictures of them relaxing in the off-season.

Fred, meanwhile, has been enjoying himself with a session of karaoke while on holiday.

The players are preparing for a new season which begins with the Premier League match against Brighton at Old Trafford on August 7.

United then travel to Brentford before a home clash with Liverpool. Ten Hag's team have a tricky October, which includes trips to Chelsea and Manchester City and a home encounter with top-four rivals Tottenham.

Ten Hag is facing a gruelling pre-season schedule as United are set to travel nearly 23,000 miles before the campaign opens.

Following the match with Liverpool in Thailand, United head to Australia for games against Melbourne Victory, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, before they play Atletico Madrid in Oslo a day before welcoming Rayo Vallecano to Old Trafford.
