According to Samuel Luckhurst, Manchester United's correspondent for The Athletic, Manchester United plans to officially announce the signing of Atalanta midfielder Ederson after Brazil's FIFA World Cup campaign concludes.

Manchester United has reached an agreement with Atalanta for the transfer, valued at £35 million. The 26-year-old will be the Red Devils' first new signing this summer.
As he is currently with the Brazilian national team competing in the FIFA World Cup, Manchester United will not immediately announce the transfer. Ederson came on as a substitute in Brazil's 3-0 victory over Haiti last week, and the Brazilian team has largely secured their spot in the Round of 32.
Ederson is expected to fly to Manchester to complete the transfer formalities after Brazil's FIFA World Cup campaign ends.
When asked about the transfer last Friday, the player stated: "I have to wait. Now I need to enjoy this moment—beating Haiti—and then we'll see what happens."
"Of course, everything is almost done. But for now, I have to enjoy this moment."
FIFA regulations stipulate that players participating in international tournaments must receive a three-week holiday after the event. Therefore, even if the transfer is completed, Ederson will likely miss Manchester United's first two pre-season warm-up matches on July 18 against Wrexham and July 24 against Rosenborg.
Manchester United insiders revealed that the club will not officially announce Ederson's arrival until July at the earliest.
A similar situation occurred in 2018 when Fred joined Manchester United. The Brazilian midfielder used the break between matches to visit Manchester United's Carrington training ground to finalize the signing and take official announcement photos.
According to the schedule, Manchester United players will return to Carrington in the week of July 6 to begin pre-season preparations, at which time the FIFA World Cup will be in the Round of 16 stage.
To ensure all FIFA World Cup internationals can participate in full preparations, Manchester United has scheduled their Ireland training camp to begin on August 9. The team will play a warm-up match against Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg on August 8 before flying to Dublin for training.
On August 14, Manchester United will conclude their Ireland training camp and travel to Wrocław, Poland, for another pre-season warm-up match against AC Milan.
