Manchester United to 'swoop' for Atletico Madrid's Marcos Llorente and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are reportedly set to make a move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claim United are interested in bringing the 27-year-old to Old Trafford and their hopes are to be boosted by the fact Atletico have a €40million deficit to attend to this coming summer. The report adds that Diego Simeone's side's failure to qualify for the last-16 of the Champions League will also cost them €30m.

That means they are likely to need to offload some players and Llorente is reportedly available for around €40m.

Meanwhile, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has refused to rule out terminating Martin Dubravka's loan at United. The Slovakian goalkeeper arrived on a season-long agreement at Old Trafford last summer but has yet to make an appearance.

Newcastle have the option to recall him in January and when questioned on the 33-year-old's future, Howe told Newcastle World : "I will have a chat with Martin as time progresses.

"I won’t speak now as he is in the middle of a busy period, as we are. There will be a time when I will sit down with him and have a chat and see what he wants to do next.

"It’s difficult for me to comment. I don’t know what goes on at any other football club. All I will say is I love Martin as a lad, he did brilliantly for us last year and he is an outstanding goalkeeper and I will have a chat with him at the right time. Of course, yeah, the door is still open. A lot depends on what Martin wants. We will take it from there."
