The 23 players called up by Luis de la Fuente for the Nations League to be played in the Netherlands have been handed out their numbers this Friday morning, shortly after their arrival at the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas.
Among the new players, Marco Asensio, who was absent from the last national team game, is back in the number 10 shirt, which he wore at the World Cup in Qatar. Against Norway and Scotland, in Spain's last two qualifiers for Euro 2024, the '10' had been worn by Dani Ceballos, who has not been included in this list.
The number '5', usually worn by Sergio Busquets -Spain's captain in Qatar-, will be worn by Martín Zubimendi, a Real Sociedad player and Barcelona's target to replace Busquets, who has just finished his long spell at the Catalan giants.
Unai Simón, who also returns to the squad, will wear the '23', while the '1' will go to Kepa. Jesús Navas, another new addition, will wear '22' and Jordi Alba, the new captain of the national team, will wear his usual number, '18'.
Robin Le Normand, French player of Real Sociedad, recently naturalised as Spanish, will wear the number '3'.
