Bournemouth have appointed Marco Rose as Andoni Iraola's successor.

Rose will officially take charge in the summer but the deal has been made to allow both the new boss and club to plan for next season after Iraola confirmed he would be leaving the club.

Iraola revealed last week that he would be departing his role as head coach when his contract expires at the end of the season, bringing an end to his three-year reign.

Sky Sports News had reported former RB Leipzig boss Rose was the frontrunner to succeed Iraola, with the club working quickly to make an appointment.

The 49-year-old was always their number one target to replace Iraola because of his similar footballing philosophy and style of play.

Rose has been out of management since being sacked by RB Leipzig in March 2025. He has also worked at Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Monchengladbach and Red Bull Salzburg.

Is Rose the right fit for Bournemouth?

Sky Sports News' Mark McAdam:

The 49-year-old was available having been sacked in March 2025 by RB Leipzig for underperforming in the league and Champions League. But he has won silverware and does have Champions League experience.

The pursuit of trophies and Europe is the next step for Bournemouth. The question on the south coast is: can they add a major trophy to the cabinet for the first time in the club's history?

Rose also fits the bill with regard to his footballing philosophy; he has described the basic ideas of his playing style as "emotion, hunger and being active".

"We want to be very active against the ball, sprint a lot," he has previously said. "We want to win high balls and have short ways to the goal. We don't want to play high and wide, but fast, dynamic and actively forward."
